Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DOES THE WASTE TAKEAWAY SERVICE WORK?

It’s simple, for an additional $2/week we will double-bag your pet’s waste and take it away with us! We’re Alaska’s only pet waste removal company that offers this service, and at the lowest price possible of just $2 you never have to see or smell your dog’s waste ever again.

DOES A.P.S. PROVIDE SERVICES ON-BASE (JBER)?

At this time we are not able to provide services on-base, we are currently in the process of submitting our application for review by Base Access so hopefully we will be able to begin servicing the good folks on base soon, follow our Facebook page to keep updated on when this happens!

WHY BOTHER CLEANING & SCOOPING MY YARD AT ALL?

YUCK!   This is an unpleasant subject, we know.  But dog pet waste isn’t just an eyesore or smelly.

And the dog poop sitting on your grass right now is most definitely not a fertilizer and does not just “break down.” You can’t see the poop pile, but all of its harmful pathogens and bacteria are spreading everywhere.

It is hazardous, full of viruses, bacteria and pathogens, worms, parasites, attracts pests – not to mention how it damages & yellows your grass or results in you or your child accidentally stepping in a doggie landmine.

CAN I PUT PET WASTE IN THE TRASH?

Yes, this is the preferred disposal method. By putting pet waste in the trash, it prevents the waste from becoming a source of pollution in our streams and bays. Landfills are designed to safely handle substances such as dog waste, cat litter, and dirty diapers.

Many people already place their dog waste in the trash because it’s convenient. Some hide it in the trashcan because they think it’s prohibited. Don’t worry!  It’s allowed. If you are already placing it in the trash, keep up the good work!

If this is not practical for you, please contact Anchorage Poop Scoop today; we are always on doodie duty!

DO I HAVE TO I SIGN A LONG TERM CONTRACT?

No, we do not require our clients to sign a contract. Instead, our focus is to build a relationship between our clients, their pets and our dog-loving staff by providing weekly (or twice weekly) thorough cleanings and great, personal service.

HOW DO I PAY? DO I NEED TO LEAVE A CHECK?

Anchorage Poop Scoop invoices  you once per month from our office by either USPS mail or email.  We also can auto-debit your credit/debit card each month to make things even easier for you.

Our automated Bill-Pay service will keep your account active and paid on time by automatically charging your payment source (credit/debit) every week according to your service plan. We don’t store your card information on our website, we use secure encryption to communicate with our Merchant Account provider (authorize.net), and they use the secure encrypted “token” to process your stored card information on their industry-leading secure servers.

You may pay in the way easiest for you: AmericanExpress, MasterCard, Visa, auto-debit, check, and cash.

DO YOU ONLY POOP SCOOP LAWNS & YARDS?

No way! If a dog poops it, we will scoop it. This includes apartments, townhomes, condos, dog-related businesses, parks, pet waste “dog poop” stations, special events and other custom circumstances that some pet parents require.

Don’t be afraid to ask – we are here to help.

WILL YOU POOPER SCOOP WITH MY DOG(s) IN THE YARD?

We are all huge dog lovers here – that’s why we got into the pooper scooper business!

But if your dog is protective of its yard, or if it is a jumper, we ask that you have or bring your pooch inside for the protection of all involved.  Our tools are metal and jumping dogs and sharp metal corners do not mix.

In the rare instances when a client’s dog has shown real aggression that cannot be managed by our trained staff we will require the dog not be in the yard while it is cleaned/pooper scooped (We will gladly work out a system to alert you we are about to enter the yard.).
